It is easier to forestall than to treat a disease

While the life expectancy gap between males and females has reduced, it is no secret that men still need to pay more attention to their bodies. A few things work against men. They tend to abuse alcohol and smoking more than females. They do not seek medical aid as often as females. Some men work too much, which can add to stress. There are also health conditions that only affect males, such as prostate cancer and low testosterone. One of the common problems men face is hair loss. It can be triggered by heredity, a medical condition or even drugs. Although undue hair loss is a cosmetic problem, it may lead to low self-esteem and lack of confidence, if untreated. One of the most widespread treatment therapies approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is Finasteride (Propecia). It slows down the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which diminishes hair follicles on the scalp, leading to thinner, fuzzier hair. Erectile dysfunction affects millions of males around the world. Since the sexual disorder is so annoying, a lot of men feel powerless to deal with it. It is typical of males who have to deal with ED to have feelings of anxiety, guilt and low self-esteem. ED is brought on by blood vessel disorders, neurological and penile abnormalities, hormonal imbalances and psychological problems. There are a number of new methods available to cure male impotence effectively, including medications, vacuum therapy, penile injections, urethral pellets, penile implants. The most efficacious medicines are sildenafil (Viagra), vardenafil (Levitra) and tadalafil (Cialis) sanctioned by the U.S. FDA. Males also fall ill with bacterial infections. Antibiotics are the most efficient medications that fight bacterial infections. If used as recommended, antibiotics can save lives. They either fight germs outright or impede their multiplication. Antibiotics may be prescribed in advance, to prevent an infection, as might be the case before operation. This is known as 'prophylactic' administration of antibiotics. They are usually used prior to bowel and orthopedical operation. Many of the major health risks that males face - prostate cancer or vascular disorders - can be precluded and treated with early diagnosis. Screening can find diseases early, when they are easier to treat. It is essential to have regular checkups and screenings.
